Reviews

  • I have tried probably 70% of the main restaurants in Victoria and definitely Aura has the best food among them (after the new renovation). I have been to AURA before they renovated the restaurant (probably you can find my review from back then), had great food and service. But, after the new renovation and the new menu style (the new sharing plate concept), I had the best food in town. You can taste the food quality, the freshness of it, anything you eat just tastes great. The dessert menu is the best in town FOR SURE. The other restaurants usually have the typical stuff (cheesecake, nanaimo bars, creme brûlée, and that’s it), with around 9 options for dessert. Again, the best dessert I have ever had in Victoria. The views are incredible, top 3 in Victoria (I just can’t imagine how awesome the patio will be in summer). I was there for lunch, so there was probably 12 options of plates to eat. I saw the dinner menu, which has WAYY more options. For this reason, I think the restaurant could offer more lunch options. Excellent work from the AURA team, best food in town, awesome view, and great service. In terms of price, the most expensive plate was 12$ (that I remember), but don’t forget that it is a sharing plate concept restaurant that gives you the opportunity to try different plates. I’m now looking forward to try the dinner menu.

  • Had an amazing experience at Aura last night from the friendly service to the delicious food and drinks!!! I love the smaller plates, which let us have a wide variety of food. Everything was very reasonably priced as well we will be back to try the rest of the menu soon!!

  • If you want to experience a fabulous taste adventure, Aura has the neatest new exciting menu for you. It’s an eclectic mix of small plate offerings, perfect for two because you both have to share the taste sensations. The chefs bring a mix of Asian influences from Japan, Thailand, and China into dishes with flavours you won’t find anywhere else. We started with Deep Fried Sushi which was a piece of seared Albacore Tuna on top of the “crispy” rice, and topped with roe and wasabi beads. So fresh! Then it was the spicy miso soup, and just the smell of the broth made our mouths water. We followed that with a chicken wing stuffed with gyoza filling which was absolutely delicious. We finished our dinner with the Homemade Spam (yes I did say Spam but don’t let that turn you off) on top of a crispy rice cake, served with a soft poached egg, and a crispy sharp cheddar topper. Amazing flavour. Had to try the coconut creme Brûlée for dessert and it did not disappoint! This is a first for Victoria and we’ll definitely go back to try some of the other dishes!!!

  • This is one of the most amazing restaurants I've been to. It overlooks the inner harbor with the parliament building and the empress hotel as the backdrop. I love the small plates that allowed us to try many different dishes. The value is incredible!

  • This dinner was a winner on many fronts. First there is the view of the Inner harbor which cannot be beat - ask for a window table. And then there was a series of small plates that my husband and I shared. All were very well presented, expertly prepared, delicious and surprisingly more than enough. Was not sure about the small plate concept but found it allows you to try a myriad of dishes which was quite enjoyable. The service was also very good. Would highly recommend.
